Should Non-Adventist Students of Lukanga Adventist Boarding School Keep Sabbath?

Abstract

Non-Adventist boarding studentsts at the Adventist Universitv of I ukanga. hereafter referred to as UNILUK,'think that Sabbath observance should not be mandatory for them. When students enrol at UNILUK, they receive a manual which summarizes ethical conducts for the school. among which is the Sabbath. Students make a commitment to observe the school ethics by signing a document, regardless their religious affiliation. However, after quite a time on campus, non-Adventist students generally complain that Sabbath observance is a matter of worship and should never be compulsory. They claim that UNILUK violates their conscience by inflicting them a religious law. This article provides a biblical ground for UNILUK to require Sabbath keeping from non-Adventist students. The case of the "mixed multitude" of Exod. 12:38 is used as an essential background.
